Red Dot Design Award
- The Red Dot Design Award is a jury awarded to the best designs which are of outstanding design quality and excellence in the jury.
- In 2005, the award recognised the need to identify and celebrate new design concept and innovation,
- These awards are given in June or July every year in the Aalto Theatre in Essen awarded.
- The winning design will be for at least one year in the Red Dot Design Museum.
- The winning participants may use the Red Dot on their products.
- Every year they give rankings to Companies, Design Studios, Universities– Americas & Europe, Universities – Asia Pacific.
Rules:
- Any person with a design may participate.
- Participation extends to all design studios, companies, universities, research laboratories, inventors, design students and design professionals from anywhere in the world.
Judging Criteria :
- Durability :
Has the concept’s material and construction been designed for a long life-span?
- Functionality :
Does the concept fulfill all requirements of handling, usability, safety, and maintenance? Does it fulfill a need or function?
- Degree of innovation :
Is the concept new or does it supplement an existing product with a new desirable quality?
- Impact :
Result of the concept. What is the scale of the benefit/impact that your concept has on the problem?
- Aesthetic quality :
Is the concept’s form pleasant to look at?
