Internal IP vs External IP

Internal IP :
  • Internal IP Address or Private IP Address is the address that is assigned by a local network router.
  • These computers can only be seen by other computers in your LAN and not by any computers connected in an external network such as internet.
  • A local or internal IP address is used inside a private network to locate the computers and devices connected to it.
  • A Local IP Address can change depending on what other devices connected to the same network in what order they were connected.



External IP :
  • External IP Address(Public IP) assigned by your internet sevice provider when you connect to the internet.
  • When your web browser requests a webpage, it sends this IP address along with it. Your ISP uses this to know which of its customers are requesting which webpage.
  • External IP address is used across the entire Internet to locate computer systems and devices.
  • On the internet everyone sees your external ip address.
